Barre3 Workouts Review

Have you heard of the Barre3 workouts?

I’ve really been struggling with being in the house for over 3 weeks, (with my gym being closed for almost 2 months now), so I decided to take a more aggressive look into my workouts. My Pinterest inspired ones weren’t giving me what I wanted, so I decided to try the 15-day free trial from Barre3.

Barre3 is “a full-body balanced workout combining strength conditioning, cardio and mindfulness that will leave you feeling balanced in body, and empowered from within (barre3.com).

Similar to Pure Barre or Bar Method, it draws inspiration from ballet, yoga, and traditional strength training exercises. The website offers a free 15-day trial, so I decided to sign up and give it a shot.

Barre3 does suggest you have some basic workout materials to start- free weights, a yoga mat, resistance bands, etc- but each workout does show a modification without those supplies, so it can be from beginner to advanced.

Before you start watching videos, you fill out a few questions so they can understand what you are wanting out of your workout, as well as where your strengths and weaknesses are in a workout. After each video, you fill out a “meter” of a few qualities to track your progress.

(Here are some top tips to get healthy, from a sports administration specialist!)

One thing that is touted immediately is modifications in workouts. There is no “one size fits all” way of thinking to the instructors, and they encourage you to do what feels right for your body, and to listen to any tightness or pain in your movements that could indicate injury.

The instructors are engaging, and the movements are easy to follow. You can pick the length of your workouts, or do searches by specific instructors. There are lots of options on the website, and they offer all sorts of resources besides just the workout videos.

I’ve only done Barre3 for a few days, but I am hooked. I have loved my workouts, and have enjoyed the movements that I’ve already learned. I love some of the yoga I’ve learned, and the focus so far on strength training is right up my alley. I didn’t feel that there was a “learning curve”, where you need to have some previous knowledge of forms, like in other yoga classes. It was easy to follow, and I have sweated more than any other workout I did on my own.

I highly suggest checking this out as an alternative for workouts at home for now. There are also in person classes, but those can cost more than I am comfortable spending. The monthly plan is $29/month for the online classes, which I feel is more in my budget.

Have you tried any barre classes? What did you think?
