Magnolia Table Volume 2 was just published, and I’m thrilled to have a copy! Joanna Gaines is an inspiration to me, because of her business prowess, her down-to-earth demeanor, and her food. I love her food!
This cookbook does not disappoint. It is filled with an array of yummy recipes, interspersed with beautiful family photos and pictures taken at their property.
(Did you miss my review of Magnolia Table Volume 1?)
Let’s see what’s inside!
First, Jo writes a short chapter called “The Art of Gathering,” where she discusses entertaining. That chapter is followed by a “Guide to Herbs, Seasonings, and Substitutions,” which is important now that grocery runs are more infrequent.
From there, she gives several recipes that are “Scratch Made,” including pie crusts, tortillas, pizza dough, noodles, and sauces, including her marinara sauce.
Breads, breakfast recipes, soups/salads, appetizers/starters, and side dishes all have their own chapters, followed by dinner and desserts.
Jo’s family roots are both Asian and Lebanese, and there are recipes in this cookbook for both. Her mom’s seaweed soup, grapes leaves, and cabbage roll recipes are here and look so easy and so tasty.
(Jo also wrote “Home Body.” Here’s my review of that one!)
The desserts chapter contains mouthwatering recipes, including a French Silk pie, which her son videoed her making; you can find it on YouTube.
Also, there’s a recipe for Crew’s cookies, named for her youngest son, that look amazing. They are made with butter, flour, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt and glazed with a powdered sugar mixture.
I’m looking forward to Magnolia Table Volume 2! Look for future posts where I try a recipe or two and review them for you.
