My third EdD course has ended, and we are now on a three-week break before the final course of the year begins in mid-October.
This course was more challenging than the previous two, which is understandable, right? There’s usually a progression of expectations and work.
Third EdD Course Summary
The workload was the same in terms of types of written work. Each week, there was a larger paper due.
In addition, we were required to keep a journal and write an entry per week that used at least five sources; this was a new requirement because in the two previous courses there wasn’t a required number of sources.
This, of course, made the journal entries more challenging.
Finally, we had to submit two, one-page discussion board posts. We also had to read everyone else’s posts and comment on two of them. When we received comments on our own posts, we had to respond to those.
I spent more time, per week, in this course, than in the other two courses, probably about 12-14 hours per week.

My third EdD course title, Becoming a Critical Consumer of Action Research, underscores the importance of this course; it is the basis for the research we will have to do to earn the doctorate.
The most crucial information I learned involves the research we will need to include in our dissertations; that research must encompass four different methods and include, gasp, statistics.
Numbers are not my forte, but I have professor friends who are available to help with that part of it.
When my next course ends in December, I will be halfway through with the coursework, with graduation in July, 2020!
